Another enormous pillow in progress. The leather I've been using is this wonderful powdery white shade, with a chalky appearance that lends itself nicely to hazy, dreamy pastels. Which is perfect, because as much as I loveeeee me some studded biker jackets, chaps and straps, lately I've been really into ethereal incarnations of the skin.

absolutely beautiful...
Hopefully you will share the finished product as it looks like it is going to be awesome.
Have you ever tried painting fabric? Once the (latex) paint is sealed/polished with a paste waste, it actually resembles and is supple just like leather. It is quite durable as well.

A Perfect Gray- Thank you!
MrsBen- Thanks for the tip. Not only have I painted on fabric, but prior to this, I went kind of insane with canvas painted pillows. You're right- it LOOKS like leather, but the problem is, it doesn't have the same feel! This is tons softer. (Or maybe I'm just a big fan of leather in all forms? This could be.)
I agree! There is nothing like The Real McCoy. -Brenda-
Agreed....you can get close to the leather look with fabric and wax, but there is more than a subtle difference! Leather is just the best! Fabulous work Lauren...ornamentation is "my thing"! ;)
This is lovely! I've never tried leather painting (and wouldn't know where to buy leather!) but your work is making me want to try!
You have such talent! And yes, please show the final product!
that is a beautiful design you've painted onto the leather. You have good taste and good skill, can't wait to see the finished product.

Well, this is just fabulously luxurious!
That looks fricking amazing! I love the gentle feel it has to it, kind of like porcelain.
P.S. A while back you posted about lucite candles and I wanted to make ones that drip and i still really wanna do it. Thanx for being an inspiration and if they work out i'll send you some.
of course You know-I love it. I think some sort of cocooning stole, cape or shrugging thing. I wish you could see the Alexander McQueen thing I bought with the matrixlike butterfly. I have to buy-You, my dear, can create anything. Gaye
Ooh, this is going to be fabulous! Of course.
